3 ways to transform your home into a place for inner peace.

In a world full of noise, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by everything that’s going on. We have such easy access to social media, video streaming, and games that often, we consume way too much for our own good. For instance, whenever I find myself scrolling too much on Instagram, I start to feel sad and say things like:

“Why am I not this pretty?”
“Why don’t I get to travel?”
“How come my life isn’t as exciting?”

My mind drowns in the darkest thoughts and it happens in my own home – a place for sanctuary. As my home is also becoming a place where I work, I find it crucial to bring serenity into the place. In order to improve my quality of life, productiveness, and wellness, I had to transform my home into a place for inner peace.

If you’re in a similar situation, here’s how to bring serenity right into your home.

1) De-clutter.

Throw out all the things that you don’t really need or put them into drawers where you can’t see them. If too many things are on the floor or in sight, the overload of visual stimulation can overwhelm you. By de-cluttering your place, you’re also de-cluttering your mind of distractions.

2) Slow down and relax. Take a hot bath.

If you’re ever in need of some time for yourself, a bath is the perfect way to relax. Put your phone away, throw in your favorite bath bomb, light up some candles, and add other things like rose petals if you’re feeling extra. Lie in the water, close your eyes, and think about nothing (literally).

3) Improve the ambience of your place.

The atmosphere of our home is critical in setting the mood for inner peace. I find that lights, scented candles, music, and plants help me relax more. Combined, these elements create a warm feeling that soothes the mind and enhances productivity. At a minimum, I recommend everyone to try and light up a scented candle and play some music in the background. A couple of songs that my boyfriend and I usually play is Studio Ghibli [Tributes Mix] and Fkj & Masego – Tadow. Those two song choices you recommended are the ones I listen to as well 🙂 I also think you and your boyfriend would love this playlist on Sound Cloud that I listen to “Lowfi hip hop chills by Nix” I truly believe and agree with you that our place should be our own sanctuary we come to for us to create more in our mind and our space.

    I just wanted to tell you that I’ve been following you for quite some time now (maybe 2 years idk lol) and I’m so proud of how far you’ve come!! Scrolling through ig and just seeing your face reminds me to smile a bit more everyday. I wish to become a more cheerful person and to spread positivity wherever I go as you do but I’m still working on myself slowly.
